Is it sensible to have these? What could happen if I don't have any?

Is it sensible to have these? What could happen if I don't have any? As I understand your question, which was a little vague, you could mean either of two things. 1) You want to make your boards protected so that guests can not access them without being members as there is no way with proboards to make them read only for guests, they have to exclude guests entirely or let them post etc. It's a good idea to not allow guests incase of trolls and other malicious people. It's quite rare that there is a problem on small messageboards but there was on TRR once and that's why it's now members only. 2) Passwords meaning that they are private for only the people who have the password. Not a good idea if you want everybody who's a member to access your board, only good if say you want a plae to discuss things with your co-mod without anybody else from the board viewing your discussion or something like that. Hope that answers your question ;D

Thanks, that helps. I was just worried that without passswords, people may be able to hack into my Admin area and change the settings.
If you don't mind me asking, what happened with TRR forum?

Thanks, that helps. I was just worried that without passswords, people may be able to hack into my Admin area and change the settings. If you don't mind me asking, what happened with TRR forum? There were problems with guests coming on and posting trollish messages, which were basically just abuse or pointless so it was decided that they'd block guests from accessing some of the parts of the board only it appears to have gone wrong and blocked guests completely. However, I don't wish to comment on that

Well, only registered users are allowed to access the areas where members work is posted, simply in case people come on as guests and steal other people's work, which is plagorism (sp?).
